Airlabs is looking for a Sensor Development Engineer to work with our team in Copenhagen, DK. The ideal candidate brings a diverse skillset to the role and is ready to make a significant contribution to a company striving to create clean air for people in cities.

At Airlabs, every day is different, and the successful candidate can expect to be involved in many different tasks and to learn new skills in the process.

The essential functions for the role include:

  • Development of electronic / mechatronic systems including specification, design, prototype production, testing, debugging
  • Development of mechanical/electronics systems for outdoor deployment
  • Development of mechatronic systems involving movement of air
  • Development of Instruments and/or monitoring equipment / sensors
  • Bringing electronic / mechatronic devices from prototype stage to production
  • Writing technical documents and information
  • Managing development projects
  • Firmware development for modern microcontrollers (for example STM32 or ESP32)

The ideal candidate brings the following skills and experiences to the role

Education:

  • Engineering degree: Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical
  • Or a technical natural science degree (e.g. M.Sc. in Physics or Chemistry)

Prior work experience: We imagine that the successful candidate will have about 4 years or more work experience from the private sector - could be from a start-up. And experience in some of the areas listed below:

  • Experience in bringing prototypes from the lab/design bench in to small scale production (1000s units) would be a plus
  • Experience with hardening / designing electronics or mechatronics systems for outdoor application would be a plus
  • Experience with design of measurement instruments, monitors, sensors for trace gas analysis or other chemical analysis would be a plus
  • Experience with systems involving pumps or fan-based sampling of air would be a plus
  • Experience in working computer aided design software (e.g. Fusion) would be a plus
  • Experience in preparing technical documentation and information would be a plus
